Status codes

Look up a status code from a task log and see whether to retry, rotate, wait or fix a setting.

Find a task's codes#

The log drawer on a task row shows each change of status. Some statuses name the protection that refused the task, such as BLOCKED BY PX or BLOCKED BY AKAMAI.

When AETHER restarts a gen task, the drawer also shows the failure code on its own row, such as PX_307_POST. Hover the row to read the full line.

The raw codes are in that task's log file on disk. The end of Troubleshooting shows where the log files are and how to export them. That page also has the proxy verdict table, which tells you whether a code came from your proxy or from the store.

For every status a row can show, see Task statuses.

Codes and what to do#

Work out who sent a code before you act on it. A 403 from your proxy and a 403 from a store are opposite problems.

Some codes are not standard, such as Walmart's 456. AETHER reports each code as it arrives.

CodeWhat it meansWhat to do
No statusAny store, any step. Nothing answered, so it is not a block. This happens with a dead proxy, a reset connection or a timeout.Treat it as a proxy supply problem. In the Proxies view, test the proxy against the store you are hitting and replace any that will not connect. This takes under a minute.
307Walmart. Its PX bot protection uses this redirect to refuse a request. On gen, AETHER counts every 307 as a PX block, and the task shows BLOCKED BY PX.Nothing on gen. AETHER rotates to a fresh IP and retries, and the task shows ROTATING PROXY. On Add sms, a login that stays blocked ends with LOGIN BLOCKED (PX). If the list has only one proxy, add more before you run it again.
402From AETHER itself. No store sent it. Parts of the app behind the licence gate answer 402 until your licence check passes. This includes a fresh install before you paste a key.If the gate says the check could not be made, press Activate again. If it names a reason, fix that reason. See the licence page.
403It has two opposite meanings. If your proxy sent it, that proxy login is not allowed to reach that store. If the store sent it, the store refused the request.Work out which one you have. In the Proxies view, the first shows Failed (403) and the second shows Blocked (403). Only the second is about the store.
407Your proxy rejected your login outright. No store is involved.Paste the list again and check that your proxy plan is live.
409Pokémon Center registration. That email already has an account. The server read the request and refused it, so no proxy can change the answer.AETHER does not retry it. Use a different email address.
412Walmart CA signup. PX sent a captcha instead of a result. AETHER solves it itself, and the task shows SOLVING CAPTCHA. If the solve fails, the log code reads PX_307_POST.There is nothing to change. The task shows BLOCKED BY PX, and AETHER retries on a fresh IP. A PX block sticks to the email address more than to the IP. AETHER stops retrying an address after three PX blocks.
429Too many requests, from Walmart CA or US, the AETHER licence server or a Discord webhook. Who sent it changes the meaning. When Walmart CA is busy, it is often load shedding. Everyone gets a tiny "high traffic" page carrying Walmart's own rate-limit rule name. From the licence server, it is a per-IP rate limit and says nothing about your key. From a webhook, it is Discord's own limit. On a Walmart CA gen task, nothing. AETHER treats it as temporary and retries on a fresh proxy. From the licence server or a webhook, wait before you try again.
456Walmart CA signup, and the Walmart login that Add sms uses. Walmart's Akamai protection declined this attempt. On gen, the task shows BLOCKED BY AKAMAI. This depends mostly on your IP's reputation, so the same IP tends to get the same answer.AETHER moves to a fresh IP and retries. If those retries run out, the task ends and AETHER does not restart it. If every proxy on a list gets 456, that list is burned for that store. Change the task's proxy list.

Codes that end a task#

Some modules build their code from the HTTP status, such as PC_REGISTER_409 from Pokémon Center. For those codes, AETHER follows what the status means.

  • A 4xx code means the server read the request and refused it. A different proxy cannot change that answer, so AETHER does not restart the task.
  • A 5xx code, 408 and 429 are temporary. AETHER restarts the task on a fresh proxy.

Other codes follow a fixed rule instead of their status. Best Buy's REJECTED_500 ends the task. So does AKAMAI_456 once its retries run out. A Walmart 412 is retried, even though it is a 4xx.

This is why an email that already has an account ends its task at once, and a rate limit does not. Find the cause before you restart a task. Ten restarts on ten fresh proxies give you the same 409 ten times, at ten times the cost.
