Profiles

Create profiles, keep them in groups, and use a group as the email addresses for gen tasks.

A profile holds a name, phone, email and shipping address, and can also hold a billing address and a card.

A gen task reads only the profile's email address. The other details stay on the profile and go into an export. To gen with your profiles, go to "Use a profile group for gen" further down.

Create a group first#

Tasks pick profiles by group. A profile with no group does not appear in the task builder, so create the group before you add profiles.

  1. Add the group

In the Profiles view, click + next to All profile groups at the top of the rail.
  2. Name it

Type the name in the Group name box and press Enter. The new group is selected in the rail.

Click a group to select it, and click it again to clear the selection. The wizard asks for a group on every new profile. Import uses the selected group, as "Import or export profiles" explains.

When you build gen tasks, you choose one or more profile groups instead of individual profiles. Each profile in them with an email address, or that is an iCloud placeholder, becomes one task. Organise groups by how you will use them, such as one per address or one per person.

Create a profile#

Click New profile in the Profiles view. The New Checkout Profile dialog has five steps: Contact, Shipping, Billing, Card and Review. Move between them with Back and Next. Next checks the current step and marks any field that is missing or invalid.

  1. Fill in Contact

Pick a Group, then enter First Name, Last Name, Phone and Email. The phone needs at least 10 digits. The group list shows only groups that already exist. Next does not check the group, but Create Profile will not save without one. It shows Pick a group first — tasks choose profiles by group.
  2. Fill in Shipping

Street 1, city, state or province, and postcode are required. Street 2 is optional.
  3. Set the billing address

Billing same as shipping is ticked by default. Untick it to enter a separate street, city, region, postcode and country.
  4. Add a card, or skip this step

The fields are Card Number (PAN), Cardholder Name, Exp MM, Exp YYYY and CVV. Once you enter a card number, the expiry and CVV are required, and the number needs at least 12 digits. The card number and CVV are stored encrypted. Edit on the profile shows them again, and Export writes them out in plain text. A Venn task replaces this card with the card it mints.
  5. Review and save

Check the summary, then click Create Profile. This step also has an Optional retailer extras section, collapsed by default.

On the Shipping step, Country can be United States or Canada. Changing it renames the last two fields and changes their format.

CountryRegion fieldPostcode field
United StatesStateZip
CanadaProvincePostal Code, formatted as A1A 1A1

Optional retailer extras

The extras are Phone Country Code, Target Store ID and Webmail Password. No task reads these fields, so you can leave them empty. Ignore the note under them that names stores.

Import or export profiles#

The Profiles view has Import, Import as iCloud and Export buttons. Import reads a .csv, .json or .txt file.

  • Import keeps the email address on each row.
  • Import as iCloud drops every email address. Each profile waits for an iCloud task to mint a Hide My Email address and write it onto the profile.
  • Both put the profiles into the group selected in the rail. With no group selected, they use the file's group column. If the file has none, the profiles get no group and tasks cannot pick them.
  • A row whose email is already on another profile is imported too.

Every row needs a first and last name, a phone with at least 10 digits, a street, city, state or province, and postcode. It also needs an email, unless you use Import as iCloud. Rows that miss a field are skipped when you import.

The toast gives a count and the first reason only, as in Imported <N> from <format> · <M> skipped (<reason>). If nothing was imported, it reads Imported 0 of <N> · read as <format> — <reason>.

Export saves a Stellar-format CSV of the selected group, or of every profile when no group is selected. The toast reads Exported <N> profiles in Stellar format to <file>. The file holds each full card number and CVV in plain text, so keep it private.

Use a profile group for gen#

A profile group can be the address source for a gen task. On the gen task form, pick one or more groups under Profiles *. Each profile with an email address becomes one task, and the button shows the count, such as Create 12 tasks.

The task uses only the profile's email address. The name, phone, addresses and card are not sent to the store. When the task makes an account, the app links that account to the profile with the same email.

  • A profile with no email address gets no task, and nothing names it. The toast just says Created <N> gen tasks.
  • An iCloud placeholder still makes a task, and the form counts it as <N> awaiting an address. That task does not wait for an iCloud address. At most stores it gens on catch-all addresses instead, and the profile stays without an address. At Riot it stops with NO EMAIL ON TASK. Run an iCloud task first to give these profiles an address.
  • If no profile in the groups you picked can be used, the form refuses with Those profile groups have nothing left to gen at <module>. The last word is the internal store key, such as walmart-ca or target.

To point a task at a profile once your groups exist, see Task modes and Task groups.
